Megan Green’s career began in education, where she spent 14 years in Special Education with Albemarle County Public Schools and 2 years in Early Childhood Education with Greene County Public Schools. Those years strengthened her skills in communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and advocating for others while helping students reach their full potential.

​

Today, she serves as the Operations Manager for Piedmont Disposal, a locally owned Greene County business, where she oversees daily operations and work to ensure dependable service for their customers. She believes in leading with integrity, finding practical solutions, and maintaining open, honest communication.

Beyond her professional career, Megan has been committed to giving back to her community. She proudly served as a Girl Scout troop leader and has coached eight seasons of soccer and two seasons of basketball through Greene County Parks & Recreation (GCPR). These experiences have reinforced her belief in mentorship, teamwork, and helping young people build confidence both on and off the field.

​

As Vice President of GCPRF, Megan is passionate about supporting projects and opportunities that enhance our park and recreational spaces, helping ensure that future generations of Greene County families have access to places where they can learn, play, and build lasting memories.

​

Outside of work, you’ll most often find Megan on the sidelines of a soccer field, enthusiastically cheering on her son and daughter as they pursue the sport they love. In her free time, Megan enjoys expressing her creativity through crafting, including making wreaths and centerpieces.

Megan Meyers serves as Secretary of GCPRF and is passionate about strengthening communities through collaboration, access, and opportunity. Professionally, she works in early childhood education at United Way of Greater Charlottesville, where she helps connect families with resources and publicly funded early learning opportunities for children from birth to age five.

​

A longtime advocate for community engagement, Megan believes parks and recreation play a vital role in enhancing quality of life, promoting health and wellness, and creating spaces where people of all ages can connect, learn, and thrive. As a founding board member of the Foundation, she is committed to expanding recreational opportunities, supporting scholarships and community initiatives, and helping build a lasting legacy for future generations in Greene County.

​

In her free time, Megan enjoys spending time with her husband and children, volunteering with Feeding Greene, and supporting her children's many activities. She can often be found at Greene Community Park or the Nathanael Greene campus, cheering from the sidelines, volunteering, or simply enjoying the programs and spaces that make Greene County such a special place to live.

Rebeca Moya is a public health dietitian with a background in culinary and over 8 years of experience working with local families to improve their access to healthy foods, nutrition education, and healthcare services through her work with the WIC program. Though she may not have been born in Greene, she grew up in this community since she was just a toddler. After pursuing higher education in both North Carolina and Colorado, Rebeca found herself back home to raise her two young boys in the same community that raised her.

The Greene County Parks and Rec soccer program sparked an undying love for the sport in both of her boys. Joining the Greene County Parks and Recreation Foundation was the natural conclusion to link her career as a public servant to giving back to the community that has so wholly shaped her life.

If Rebeca is not at work or at a soccer game or practice, she is probably knitting or reading.

Loni started his career with a third-generation family-owned business and attributes his financial education to the 12 years of service to this family. Loni has been in the financial services industry for over 20 years. With his experience, Loni has formed a niche working with small business owners, understanding that business owners can easily be distracted from their personal goals. Loni focuses on planning with all clients, the use of non-proprietary products, customizing client portfolios, the ability to have open architecture and oversees the daily operations of Woods & Waters Financial Group. Loni holds FINRA Series 6, 7, 63, 65 with LPL Financial and the CPFA designation, and Virginia Life and Health.

​

Loni resides in Greene County with his wife Julie, a third-grade teacher for Greene County, and children Abigail, Holsten, and Elizabeth “BB”. Loni is a member of Stanardsville United Methodist Church, Former Chair of The Charlottesville Ballet, and focuses on community involvement with Greene County youth education programs. Loni enjoys attending to all of his children’s interests, camping, hiking, and has an eye for vintage sports memorabilia. He and Julie have a bucket list to travel to a new destination every year!

Piper Gibert is a lifelong Greene County resident and owner of Piper Ivy Preschool. She has volunteered on numerous boards and local organizations over the past 20 years. She is passionate about the growth of the County and the opportunities offered by the Greene County Parks and Recreation Foundation. The importance of extra activities for the youth and adults of the community is a key part of why she volunteers and participates in the planning and fulfilling of events. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, visiting local vineyards, listening to live music and family time.

A native of nearby Earlysville, Mr. Sweeney proudly calls Greene County home and is deeply invested in serving the community that has played such an important role in his life. He graduated from Fork Union Military Academy in 2008 and from Shepherd University in 2014 where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Recreation and Leisure Studies. Mr. Sweeney is a Certified Youth Sports Administrator and a graduate of the Leadership Training Institute through the Virginia Recreation and Parks Society (VRPS). He remains actively engaged in the profession through his leadership and involvement in the Western Service Area of VRPS and an active participant in the VRPS State Conference. Throughout his career, Mr. Sweeney has demonstrated a strong understanding of program development, operations, and community engagement. He has led the growth and success of a wide range of initiatives in Greene County, including youth sports leagues, instructional programs, and community events – all designed to meet the evolving needs of residents. His work reflects a deep belief in the power of recreation to strengthen communities, foster connections, and provide lifelong benefits to individuals and families.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
